Stitch 'n Stamp
Welcome to Stitch 'n Stamp (formerly Maisey Masks). I started making facemasks in June 2020 as a fundraiser for Kits Cares Cafe and Diabetes BC. I have now switched from facemasks to bunting and postage stamp art.
Bunting Bunting is very popular in the UK where I grew up. Always used for Royal celebrations but often used now as garden and home decoration. Vintage Postage Stamp Art During my 2 week isolation at the start of COVID (returning from UK) while spring cleaning our house, I found bags of vintage postage stamps under our bed that I had been saving for who knows what? Take a look and see what I have done with these bags of stamps. |
FundraisingFrom June 2020- December 2021 I raised approx. $2,800 for my two chosen charities from the sale of facemasks. I was also able to donate over 50 facemasks for the guests at Kits Cares Cafe.
From 2022 to present day I have donated approximately $500 to my chosen charities. This represents approx 10% of my yearly profits. Kits Cares Kits Cares started out as a weekly community meal back in 2018, organized by local churches at the invitation of Kits Neighbourhood House. During Covid we switched from a weekly meal to providing groceries for those experiencing food insecurity. The format has continued to change as needed and is now a weekly program out of Redemption Church. Funds are needed to ensure that this program continues to meet the needs of our local community during these challenging times. Diabetes BC In 2019 I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Approximately 90% of people with diabetes have Type 2. Only 5-10% have Type 1 and this is usually diagnosed in childhood which is why it used to be known as Juvenile Diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is an auto-immune disease. The cause is unknown. The pancreas is attacked and ceases to produce insulin which is essential to control blood sugar. Survival depends on injecting insulin before eating any food. Type 1 diabetes has changed my life. At present it is incurable but a great deal of research is underway requiring funding. I will be donating 10% of my profits from sales to be divided between these two causes. |
